Re: White Tailed Eagles Discussion 2010
Thank you unp for the tip. I found this (and many more videos of WTE ) in ARKive;
http://www.arkive.org/white-tailed-eagl ... o-09b.html
At least we can hear the familiar cries of juveniles.

Forgive this in the webcam's absence, please: I was thinking today about our student daughter's previous autumn term in Bergen. In November, she made the ?25-hour? long trip by train up to see the Lofoten Islands for a week by herself, camping in the Arctic snow, under the Northern Lights... and wth WTEs for neighbours. These Scandinavian memories will prove unforgettable for her - as her photos are for me.

Mew, we accept any excuse for WTE news at this time.
Pictures appreciated, too!
Good grief! I just re-read your post - she went there alone? That's dedication!

One day I'll find the time and application to work out how to post up pictures. Sorry, not anything like as adventurous as our daughter! [You should see the mountains and ice-climbs she has done. And now she has her younger brother at it, too...]Jo UK wrote:Mew, we accept any excuse for WTE news at this time.

But one day I would love to see those amazing Lofoten Islands and all those eagles.

I suppose this is reserved for Finnish television viewers ?
I hope it will find its way here sometime later.

I have been downloading pictures from pontu from the 28. April and forward (still downloading...)
I have found a great site to upload it so I can share them with you. I could make it public - but I would like to have a little control over who is watching.
So join...
http://www.mejuba.com/
The site is rather new, so it has some 'child' diseases - the slideshow for instance only allows a few pictures at a time (don't try to look at all the files in one folder), but the crew are working on it...
I have made the April folder public so you can ask for permission to see the rest.
Try to search for 'WTE' under tags and it should appear (after 2 times)

Mejuba seems to be good competition for Photobucket - no restrictions - no running out of space, no bandwidth limits.
I joined, bit it's a bit slow to load just now.

i guess the Finnish TV- people are pleased to sell the TV-rights of this film to any TV-company which wishes to buy them.macdoum wrote: Thank you.

Ohansen, thank you for the video clip about the Finnish WTEs. It was interesting to see them quarreling over food in the snow. And the magpies, those little opportunists! They seem happy to align with either the eagles or the hooded crows, whoever seems the better chance for some scraps! It was funny to see that one sitting on his belly close to the eagle, waiting for his chance to grab a bite. Those magpies look similar to our USA magpies, perhaps a bit smaller.
