today the Sun eclipsed in Northern Europe. in Finland the eclipse was partial.
see i.g.:

in the maximum phase about 81 - 94 % of the surface of the Sun was covered by the Moon. in Southern Finland (and in Turku) the eclipse was less full than in the Northern part of the country. here we also suffered of some cloudiness. nevertheless i was able to take some pictures of the eclipsed Sun and some were good enough so that i can show them to you, too.
i took pictures with the aid of my birding telescope. first i set the magnification to the smallest value and then looked up the image on a paper which i held about 10 cm from the eyepiece (ocular). then i turned on maximum magnification to view a bigger image.
first i had the scope focused to infinity as first approximation. then it turned out that Sun wasn't nearly infinitely far: i had to focus the image nearer.
the camera was quite normal pocket camera and i used automatics. noteworthy is that for some pictures the camera triggered flash. here's the scope:
then two best pictures. these were taken at the maximum phase of the eclipse.
i didn't have enough hands to hold both the camera and the paper behind the ocular so hubby gave a helping hand.
during the darkest time it wasn't even close to dark. birds were singing normally etc. one could notice however that the light was different. hubby said that the light was more yellow than normally. i thought that the light looked kind of 'dirty'.
