At Brit's suggestion, here is a topic for Safari TV.
Join an African safari drive and see African animals in their natural environment on the Djuma Private Game Reserve

WildEarth Safari

Image

WildEarth Safari broadcasts LIVE safaris daily from the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa. Every day there is a safari at 05h30 CAT (= Central African Time) to 08h30CAT and one at 15h30CAT to 18h30 CAT. The safari consists of a Presenter/Expert Ranger who drives around the reserve looking for animals both big and small. A camera person sits on the back of the safari vehicle and their camera is your eyes. This gives a fantastic feeling of actually being on the back of the vehicle as it bumps through the African bush. If you want to ask a question of the Ranger in real time, you can email the question through to finalcontrol@safari.tv and the director may forward your question through to the ranger.

The Sabi Sands is one of the top locations in South Africa for viewing game. It is often possible to see the big five in one drive. That is lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. There are numerous beautiful birds and a whole host of other smaller animals.
Have a nice day!

It’s really an everyday adventure to join the Safari-drives where I watched for example lately Elephant Mum and her offspring which tried to make biiig impression with its ears forward:

Image

….. the waterbuck (smelling very musky as the guide [on that day Patrick] say)

Image

….. the weaver birds building right now their fantastic nests

Image

….. the buffaloes, one of the most dangerous animals:

I would like to introduce a very special animal from the WorldEarth Safari Channel: KARULA a female leopard.
Tara one member of the nice team who are driving every day, 5a.m. and 4p.m. for 3 hours looking for the animals is writing so nicely about her, it’s really worth reading! And it’s also worth to join the drives through this wonderful world down there in South-Africa

Drive times

Image

Hi eveyone, hope some of you saw Karula and the cubs with me this morning! It was a very special moment for me, seeing them for the first time. At the end of drive, on our way back, we found two elephant bulls who are now on the open area near camp as I type this, eating Marula fruits. The biggest of the two is a bull WE know as Mgoti and I hope he will be around for the drive this afternoon.

Image

As it is now February, drive times are changing and as of today, the 1st, WE will start the PM safari at 15h30CAT, a half hour earlier than WE have been going out. The morning drive times will stay the same for the time being, until the sunrise becomes too late and it is still dark out at 05h30.

See you all from out there!

Marc.

February 7 2011 - afternoon drive with Patrick:

Actually looking for crocodile at Gowrie Dam, which fortunately was not around but buffaloes with oxpeckers were there:

Poison apple. But as Patrick says it is not poisonous, because the local women take it if they want to stop breast feeding, take the juice out and put it around their nipples. The very bitter taste doesn’t invite the children for wanting to drink milk anymore!

The morning drive with Tara was an exciting one,- lucky enough (!?) I only joined as all the action was over, and the male vleopard (was it Induna?) just went away with his prey – a baby monkey….. also this is nature!

Brit, thank you for this link. I like it very much and joined the safari this afternoon. It is like a short vacation. Just sitting in the jeep and seeing everything what happens. I will join whenever other activities allow me to do so.
