Sad message about Jordaan male leopard
Djuma Private Game reserve
I was chatting to the Djuma guides yesterday and they said that Jordaan male leopard is not in a good way. He is skin and bone and has taken cushions off the patios at two neighbouring lodges. He has also been seen stalking guests at one of the lodges. It does not look like he'll be able to hunt for himself, but there is always hope. We estimate him to be about 17 - 18 years old now, a great achievement in the wilderness. He took over "One Eye's" territory around Gowrie Camp - now called Vuyatela when Zoe was a year old. Madam is about to turn sixteen, so there you go. I remember seeing his spoor all those years ago and thinking it was that of a lion. The thickness of his neck are also remarkable for a leopard.

I do not think this is Yambilu-Jordaan (Karula,s man). Yambilu-Jordaan is born in 2002. Yambilu-Jordaan was in Nkorho 9 Jul 2012, and I took the video.

After some weeks without internet I looked at the webcam of Gowrie Dam. Well, in the middle of African winter everything is extremely dry but I was amazed that there was no water left in de waterhole. I hope there will be a lot of rain when this dry period is over.

I found a picture of Marc who has still no regular job. He sometimes is helping out in other game reserves.

Tara is still working for Ingwe Leopard Research. I have no recent picture of her.
Sebastien is (among others) editing the videos made of the Gosa Gang Meerkats. He has cut off his ponytail!

I have not opened the Djuma waterhole cam in ages, but when I was on face book a message popped up that a lion had been seen.
7:50 CAT
I have seen nothing, but I think maybe it is raining. And there are some bird calls that are almost familiar. I just saw a green purply bird -- maybe some kind of starling. But the computer cam mover did not focus on it.

Yesterday evening I was watching NatGeo Wild on TV. (Caught in the Act). They had a short piece of video about the last fight of Kinky Tail, one of the Mapogo lions. He was killed by the Majingilanes (in 2010). Although I saw parts of the video before, it was breathtaking. Nature can be so cruel!

Tembe Elephants Park shared a picture of Isilo (to the right) and Mkadebona. The biggest tuskers of Africa are not seen often together.
