Wild Boar webcam Season 2011 - 2012

Post by Jo UK »

Here is the forest webcam again. South Estonia has frozen suddenly, following a long warm autumn.

I see another smart new salt pole!

Here is the Estonian language front page of LK, while we wait for the English version.

So, Jo, here is the English version, http://www.looduskalender.ee/node/11616
Same procedure as last year ...

(haven't had the time to check that all links go to English versions too, but as long as the boars show up it probably doesn't matter very much).

About 11.11.11 or rather, November 11: this - or the night before - is the great goose-eating feast in Sweden, in remembrance of St Martin of Tours, who did not feel equal to be made bishop and hid among the geese - who revealed him by cackling.
It is left to everyone's own interpretation whether the geese are eaten as punishment for revealing St Martin (but the Christians did gain a bishop after all) or a kind of reverse gratitude / remembrance for their good - to the congregation - deed.
To the goose dinner belongs a very medieval dish, svartsoppa, black soup, made with stock, red wine, goose blood, vinegar, syrup etc and spiced with cinnamon, cloves, thyme, allspice, white pepper, majoram ... :innocent:

And what is that thick thing on the left from the new salt pole?

Lot of potatoes but no eaters yet.

Could it be an empty feed bucket, left behind?

A bit earlier I think they had fireworks somewhere close to the feeding place

Yes, it absolutely surprised me, I did not expect it before December, and maybe late, because autumn in Estonia seemed to be like here.

Fireworks?
