The Stories Behind the Pictures

Anyone who has a story to tell, to accompany a photograph they have taken, can post it here.
I often wonder "how on earth did the photographer manage to get that picture - was he up a tree all day? Hiding in snow?"

Well, here, we can find out!

I had a luck to observe and take some photos from Migration of Branta Leucopsis – (valgepõsk lagle in Estonian)
03.November, Nort-East Estonia (near Rakvere)

Ornithologist Aivar Leito (senior researcher Estonian University of Life Sciences) says that he does’nt remember seeing that kind of mass-migration Branta Leucopsis here in Estonia.

Story behind pictures: when i drived to Rakvere, fields were filled with those birds. On my way back to Tallinn there was suddenly a magic moment when thousands of birds ‚departured’:). They made a strange sound – not a voice, just whir of wings, and flied quite low - it was a feeling that air actually ‚moved’. After circleing about 20 minutes they landed again.

About the first picture: It happend many years ago. I was living other side of Estonia, on island Saaremaa.
It happend one of very cold winter near abadoned cottage. Fox was died probably by car. That cat from abadoned cottage found that fox and he was eating it all week until all fox was finished. Cat was rather wild - fearful. It wasnt easy to get that picture, he always was running away and growling on me further if i was trying to get close enough with my photocamera

Now about the second picture: it all happend close to same den from my first story, on the first year there. It was ver successful year for me and one of my friend. We got good friends with cubs, we were there almost every morning and evening and saw miraculous things from theyr life. One morning we went there, we saw cubs playing near den on cole - rape field.
We parked our car a lot further and crawled back there and saw cubs eating something.

What is cole-rape pole? We have crops of rape here. It is for cattle feed and the seed produces rapeseed oil.

So it was an unplanted field? No, you said arable? So I have to look it up, to make sure I have it right!
Dictionary - arable.

Põld is quiet universal word here its like agricultural land , what ever grows there. It may be planted or not planted yet or unplanted? already, its still põld.

I never learned english in school and logics in estonian and english are too different, so its very difficult to translate with dictionary.

I think you are describing a very beautiful, peaceful place, Okaskera. If there is no English word for this kind of place maybe there should be.
