Urmas says that sometimes there are strong winds from the North and migrating birds have to wait. There will be another data transmission today!

Will this huge dust-storm affect the storks or LSE's in any way ?

A good question, Macdoum. There have not been any reports in UK news about the effect on birds.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/ ... irports.do
The cloud is too high to affect birds.

Maybe Urmas or Renno know more?

Adding new information from BBC this morning - three layers of ash have been found below 10,000 feet or 3,048 metres.

Hi!

yes, the ash-cloud is too high for affecting migrating birds. This is my personal opinion and dosn´t base on any study

Toomas is moving slowly, but Lembit has problems, he did not send any signals within a fortnight. He may be dead already. How old he was, on the photos he seemed to be a aged stork and he also was the last a year ago.

Raivo and Leida are at home soon, but isn`t it strange that 3 of 9 storks are lost?

I think the real problem is that it is not strange at all, only sad. Hopefully Jordan will do more to stop poaching and that might help a little.
