The first video that played reminded me of Tormi getting banded. When the camera got too close the made a little hissing click noise and snapped its wings toward the camera/person. It was almost like the bird lost its voice due to fear. When the camera backed off the bird gave a louder scream.macdoum wrote:Liis thank you for all that translating.

There is a webcam site with a koi pond & birdfeeders in a Kansas suburb of Kansas City, Missouri (my city) that I watch often. Tonight I checked, & there was a young raccoon cub hanging from one of the feeders, busy sticking its little hand into the hole on the side of the feeder to grab seeds. It was funny to watch this. If anyone wants to look at this site, it has three streaming wildlife cams & a discussion board. It is a fun site: http://www.tomnliz.com/Livecam/
Be aware that there are adverts that come on this site as it is streamed through Ustream servers.
Here is the video of the raccoon that I recorded.

Something a bit different
After watching venegor's video at the Tallin Zoo, I watched series of videos on Snow Leopards in Pakistan. They are amazing (the cats especially -- but seeing the work to see them is interesting) although I have not yet found 4 parts that go together correctly to make the whole.
edit: this seems to be the first of 6 parts maybe all of them are here now. There is lots of talking but there are some good shots. (an eagle flying and calling)

At first I found a version posted by someone else, but with this one the whole thing is there. I think it is great -- I will watch it again. I keep seeing bits of that wonderful leopard in my Sammy, who is curled up on my desk just in front of the monitor.

A lion saves her cub.
http://animaltracks.today.com/_news/201 ... ve-her-cub
There are a number of images.
The image of the other pride members looking down, and realizing it is just too dangerous for them to try is especially touching.

Does this poor bird not know it is winter -- almost?
I read the info I guess they nest in winter. I am surprised that there are enough flowers. But the resident hummingbirds seem to find food here in winter -- they focus on the pines and ornamental evergreens and of course some people feed them. If it freezes my parents bring the food in at night and then put it out in the morning.
