Osprey male brings a base cape to the nest :rotf:
Throwback Thursday! Earlier this month, before the chicks hatched, Richmond brought a baseball cap to the nest. Rosie was not pleased -- watch to the end and you'll see what she does with it.

i was on a trip to Latvia and Estonia. here's a "postcard" from Latvia. it is a picture of the rooftop of the Cat House in Riga. in the centre of the facade there a relief of an eagle which looks more like a white-tailed sea eagle rather than a golden eagle (not feathered legs down to toes).

in both corners on top of the towers there a black statue of a cat with arched back and tail. i could fit only the cat on the right tower in this picture. there is also a hooded crow (alive) standing on the cat's head.
Image

here you can read about two versions of the legend of origin of the cats. there the look of the cats is described as 'angry'. i think that all of us who have had cats know what the cats are doing in reality.
they are like Manneken Pis in Brussels. :whistling:

i don't know if this is funny but i think i have to tell about one thing which happened to me ... 8-)

did you know that it is possible to kill a sewing machine?

i didn't either, but i did it the day before yesterday.
i was sewing straight seams in full speed for several minutes
(maybe about 10 min)... Image ....

then it suddenly came to my mind that maybe it might be a good idea to make a break. i wasn't even finished thinking that when
Za'Damm! Image
blue&black smoke began pouring out of the machine. the light didn't stop burning but something else burned inside. the smell was awful. the coil in the motor was overheated and there was a meltdown. :rotf:

today i bought a new sewing machine. it has speed limiter. 8-)

Just a little story I would like to tell you. Yesterday, on the parking lot of a supermarket where I was waiting to be picked up, a young man approached me and asked if I spoke English. I said "Yes, I do". And then he continued: "We are a rockband from Estonia..." - he wanted to sell some CDs, but I am not really interested in rock music (anymore) and had no spare coins (Corona times- you pay with cards). But I had a chance to use two Estonian words which instantly came to my mind (I do not know Estonian) and told him: "Estonia! Wow, what a coincidence. I am watching webcams - merikotka, you know, managed by the famous Kotka Klubi." He smiled and nodded knowingly and was rather surprised, then we said goodbye .
And I had a very big smile on my face: Mind you, I live in the deep south of Germany, next big town is Augsburg. And suddenly, there is this funny connection - I watch (among others) Estonian bird webcams. Well, and how many Estonians do you usually meet on a parking lot of a supermarket in Bavaria? :D

The Christmas season and Corona and other worries are running side by side right now.
Do you still get carried away by music? Or even more so? :innocent:

I have to say that I can't do anything with classical traditional Christmas music. Except from my music boxes, I don't want to hear it. However, there are songs that find me. That touch me ... year after year.

Band aid 1984 - Do they know it's Chrismas

José Feliciano - Feliz Navidad (I'm not good at it but here I sing and dance  )

Melanie Thornton (unfortunately had a young accident) - I will never forget the Christmas truck - Wonderful dream

U.S.A.for Africa - We are the word (Goosebumps again and again)

Queen - Thank god it's Chrismad

Wham! - Last christmas

I love it! Play it loud even in summer.

☼ ☼ ☼

Oufff, my "Christmas mood" usually starts on 23. December at 00:01 am and ends at 26. December at 23:59 pm, so still no favourite festive songs from/for me Image
And this is independent from Corona and/or other unfavourable circumstances.

BUT - I already know that I will add a new video clip to my favourite ones this year, it is a promotion video from the Norwegian Post Service, 'posten norge'.

Thank you Norway and posten norge
