Well, maybe that too. But then don't they put up the plumage altogether? Puff?
Hm...I think more arousal.

It's a pity that we can't see the season of the two GE outside of the feeding station.

At 15:11 a magpie took a shrew eating on the feeder:
Image

They taste bad and are surely not some juicy little mouse snack, wonder if he ate it
I have now taken a closer look.
Thanks to Luontolive there is a video where you can follow it closely.

11:24 Magpie comes, grabs Mouse and leaves the feeding place with Mouse.
11:27 Magpie flies to the edge of the feeding place, jumps into the pit and grabs a mouse - away. 2 more magpies disturb. 11:29 Magpie lands directly in the shell, grabs the mouse and away.
11:31 Magpie on the edge and away.
11:32 Again stay and watch the feeding pit. Always pecks in...like a hunt. A second magpie lands and starts pecking too...both lurking. A magpie flies away, the first magpie is now successful and leaves the feeding place with a mouse.

At the end of the video, the situation is like cat - mouse. playing with the booty.

At least the mice seem to be in great demand - whether as a toy or food.

Red was there in the afternoon but not his fiancé.
Here is the owl. :whistling:

The mice will soon be in short supply.

Yes @sigge

Especially owl's nests are less streamed in open landscape. Like the Latvian nest once did, for example.
Often the nests are built and prepared in human settlements. This is a pity.
Sounds like other animal sounds are missing ... without fed animals or artificial nests.
But now ... .

And while I often think that I somehow only see two Goshawks here (one juvenile and one adult so far)...ha, there are more!

Yes, of course - where else would the juveniles come from?

February 11th

Luontolive/Finland

This Goshawk landed at 08:07, gnawed for a short time and has been sitting motionless ever since - now over 2 hours!
That's weird.

Is it likely that something is wrong? :puzzled:

Glad there is another GE live camera. Thank for posting!
But it's still not live unfortunately.. Hopefully it will be soon.

Reproduktion

GT:
Reproduction

Golden eagles commonly mate for life. A breeding pair is formed in a farm advertisement. This courtship includes wavy displays from both in the pair, with the male bird picking up a piece of rock or small stick and dropping it only to enter a steep dive and catching it mid-air, repeating the maneuver 3 or more times will. The female takes a clod of earth and falls and catches it in the same way. Golden eagles typically build multiple roosts within their territory (preferably cliffs) and use them alternately for several years. Their nesting areas are characterized by the extreme regularity of the nest spacing. Mating and oviposition timing for golden eagles is variable by location. Copulation usually lasts 10 - 20 seconds. Mating appears to occur about 40 - 46 days before the first egg is laid.

If the ritual is indeed like that, I find it very interesting, impressive and admittedly - sweet.
We know so little about the petty rituals of animals.

Hm, not sure here at this location if the pair will use this nest. If we assume that the courtship season for golden eagles is right now (mid-February - January is generally said to be the possible beginning), then little is happening here. After a stick was brought 18/01), there was no more eagle to be seen.
Shouts - only rarely.

February 16th

Luontolive/Finland

Here the golden eagles are more active. For Valentine's Day there were flowers for the lady again.
Well, if the assumption is correct that "Red" is the male partner. For my layman's understanding, that's how it is.

So for the second time an invitation to build a nest was delivered to the feeding station.
Or a short pit stop ...

It was pretty quiet at the feeding station today... the snow cover has closed again and only the twig stuck out defiantly. Now in the afternoon the first guests show up.

This time it's Red presenting the branch.

(Video by Luontolive)

This couple seems to have found each other. I'm crossing my fingers for a good season...we probably won't be guests in the nursery.

But - otherwise we have a stream view of the nest but not outside. We never know how to behave outside of each other. Here it is the other way around. We can now see how the partners behave outside the nest. Nice!

Thanks again both of you. :loveshower:

In my opinion, the female is already in the further adult stage. The eyes are almost orange. Yes, we can hear many contact calls! And already the inviting call of the male ... whereupon the female immediately leaves the nest.

Yes Hellem, definitely the couple is very active...I also took two photos. Without having read you before - same thought!

The grille around it also put me off a bit. But it can only be a protection? It seems too quiet for an enclosure.

But good for the rest of the Goshawk! :innocent:

I think (!), the female. I haven't seen the ring yet.
Probably the male wears the ring?
