Have you been breaking ice off your house this week in these cold temperatures?
You're not the only one....

Just a quick message to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a healthy 2023. Thank you for your amazing support this year.
Here's a bit of a treat for you – unpublished footage of the very last recordings of Padarn we got before she finally migrated at 109 days

We're Back!!
After a hiatus of a couple of months we're back today with our regular updates, so you can look forward to an exciting new season with us.
Nest: We usually leave the nest alone over the winter, but it looks like the winds have been particularly destructive this time around. The nest looks like an upside-down cup cake
We'll be doing some strengthening work over the next few days..
Today we can say, again... Telyn and Idris should be back THIS month!
Happy St Davids Day

It's always interesting to watch initial interactions between an established osprey pair when they meet up again after seven months apart (photo below).
Still yet to transition fully into 'breeding mode', both Telyn and Idris are wary of each other with the occasional mantling behaviour.
Four days on, they now seem to spend more time close to the nest and each other as their bond strengthens again for another season, roosting last night by the nest for the first time.

fish for Telyn ?

EGG!
Was Telyn 'waiting' for all the bad weather to pass?

This is Telyn's 6th year breeding on the Dyfi – that makes her the longest breeding female at the nest (Glesni was here five years).
She has laid three eggs every year - so this is her 16th.
Here's a quick video of her pushing herself into the Dyfi record books on Thursday evening...

We have learned that the Osprey pair on the Friends of the Ospreys BM nest have moved to another nest nearby. It is unusual for ospreys to move nests, but it is not unheard of.
It seems that the unringed female that was present on the Glaslyn nest earlier this week was actually Z1/Tegid’s mate and she has now returned to their new nest.
