Petitions

Post by Jo UK »

Often, it is necessary to ask governments to make changes to laws, for instance, to protect animals and birds.

If you know of such a situation, in any country, please tell us about it here.

Brit wants us to know about the situation in Austria, concerning raptors.

Buzzards and Goshawks are open to persecution in Lower Austria! The provincial government of Lower Austria has recently issued a decree allowing hunters to shoot 200 Common Buzzards and 50 Goshawks until January 31st. Since there is no adequate control, this is likely to result in the erroneus shooting of endangered raptors like Saker Falcon, Peregrine Falcon, Hen Harrier, Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Rough-legged Buzzard and Red Kite, all of which occur in substantial numbers in Lower Austria. There may be even casualities among White-tailed and Eastern Imperial Eagles.

Take action against the unprecedented onslaught on raptors in Lower Austria!
Have a nice day!

I do not really know much about this petition (but the website looks pretty good). I found it when looking for information about eagles shot in Sweden.

It is about protecting eagles in Ireland.

Another petition
Information about the problem is here
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... harks.html

Dogs are being used as shark bait -- it does sound like they have way too many dogs. But at least some people are putting live dogs on hooks for bait.

http://www.experienceproject.com/petiti ... 15378?r=vd

I had some trouble working the petition (not sure if it is odd or if I was having an especially stupid moment.)

How very satisfying, if we are able to think that we had anything to do with that decision!

Hello to everybody . I’m new here, but I’m Your constant guest. Sorry for my poor English.
I’d like to ask You to read this petition on illegal hunting in Malta (Attention! Drastic photos!) and to decide (or not decide).
http://www.birdlifemalta.org/petition/ or here: http://www.nabu.de/tiereu...0.html#jumpform
It’s very sad to see, how many soulless people we still have on Our Earth.

White storks Hansi and Lisa need your help!

Dear stork friends!

The military plans the removal of two white storks, which have been living in Zeltweg (Styria) since three years.
• If the animals can be captured, they plan to cut their wing feathers for two years to prevent their return to Zeltweg.
• If they can't be captured, they will be shot
Please help Hansi and Lisa, so that they can stay and live a long peaceful life in Zeltweg. With your signature, you protest against this animal abuse through the Austrian military.
Your personal informations are handled confidential and are only forwarded to responsible authorities.
