Ernest Porter shared a video, a bit shaky as zoom and wind was involved, but it shows Jono quite nicely

“One can measure the greatness and the moral progress of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals” (Mahatma Gandhi)
"You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals" (Paul McCartney)

Today Jono flew in the nest before 14:00 and stayed for night.
Lately Jono spend nights in the nest, while last year Nessi visited the nest only few times. But Nessi was late hatch (September 28th) - Jono hatched on June 13th.

Jono flew in the nest just before dusk at 18:10.
Image
His/her crop is full, but left wing is a concern - it looks droopy. Ground people said, Jono didn't fly today much at all, just ran around ledge. But Jono flew up, so that's a good sign.
Image

Image

Image
Jono had to move a branch off of the bed, so he/she can settle in for the night.
Image
Now Jono is sleeping.

Mamicja :hi: Beautiful Jono!
And here is the event of the day...

Shane Wilken, ‎Black Eagle Project Roodekrans
Hi all. This morning i visited our black eagles at the botanical gardens and arrived earlier than usual. it was amazing to see J on the nest as i knew i woild get him in an early flight. a little whille later before he flew i saw the parents to my left in stealth mode and watched carefully as it seemed as though they were hunting. i noticed Emm had disapeared behind a tree. she swooped up in the air very suddenly and viewed prey through my lens. After shooting a series of pics. i reviewed them briefly and was shocked to see what appeared to be a Peregrine falcon.i take it that Em had enough of them as they continuosly disrupted jonos flights and took one of the falcons out and dumped it on the side of the mountain. theres a good and a sad sighting to this as now jono will not feel so threatened to fly and i feel heart broken for the falcons mate as i have seen them mating twice, the last was yesterday morning. When the eagles flew off after they dumped the falcon the other went after the two eagles and dive bombed them both in the distance . i hope that things will settle for both the eagles, specially jono and the othet falcon. here are some of the pics i took

There is a great Zoomie this year, he keeps tracking Jono. So we can follow Jono all day round also post-fledge.
After leaving the nest in the morning Jono was hiding in the shrub.

One of forumers (Kansastoyou1) sent the video of Jono's wing to the specialist Marge Gibson @ Raptor Edu Group, Inc. & received the following response: "From what I can see it looks like a fracture of either the radius or ulna but not both. With the droop level in that wing I wold say he has an excellent chance of recovery on his own. With that type of fracture...and it is hard to see that there is no other soft tissue injury, anyhow with that type of fracture one bone splints the other in a natural way and the bird does not use it much except to keep it strong.Healing takes 2-3 weeks. It will be a little weak but should recover fullly once he can exercise again."
