Seems so, Niniel!

Again great pics, Lussi!
It was looking as if the parent stork only wanted to know, where his third kid is, and went back to the others.... :loveshower:

Good night everybody! :offtobed:

Good morning all together!

The storklet is still there ... watching out for its siblings.
Probably it lost them yesterday, that is why it came back to the nest to wait for them.
Good, that the parent already knows where it is.

And we got the proof yesterday! It's so nice to see that they are looking after them
Every year, when the young birds leaves the nest, storklets or eaglets, I feel both sad/melancholy and relieved

22:18 - Empty nest tonight!

Lussi :hi:
The same here. Sadness, because of the lost we suffer. Most likely we won't see our beloved storklets again. Anxiety and fear we (I  ) feel because of the dangerous journey to Africa. And of course relief - because the storklets reach their destination -, to follow their instincts to migrate.
I share all your feelings, so ambivalent they are. It's a little sad for us and the best and the right for the storklets. :2thumbsup:

Lussi and Michi :hi:
Me too, I share these feelings. But who would not do that???

But me, I still hope to see our storklets again because they are not ready yet to migrate. It's exactly two weeks that the first one did its first flight, three days later the last one.
They need to practise more.....

Hi !

I'm watching since the winter, a family from The Netherlands (Ankeveen), and their chicks left about a month after first flight. Parents, at least one of them, are still there in the nest.

Over there they reported about the storklets during their month around the nest. It was very interesting to see them changing and growing!

In the last days people sent pics and info about their flight south. I use a translator from Dutch to English or French to understand better. from here: https://www.facebook.com/Bigbroeder

Lets hope they'll have a good life till we'll see them back again one day.

Hello Airras :hi: you are right. Presently a lot of young storks are starting their migration.
But that are storks who have hatched much earlier than our storklets.
Because of the mild winter and early springtime in Germany the 'storkseason' has started very early this year.
The first hatching has been already April 17 and the first storklet had his first flight already on June 20 !
And also many of the other storks fledged within the month of June or the beginning of July.
Those storks you might have seen.
But "our" storklets have fledged five weeks later.....

Good morning everybody! :hi:

What a pity!
Well, it was obvious, that this time will come where we have to say good bye......
So I would like to thank Renno and Aivar and all the others, who have given us the opportunity to witness these weeks,
to witness these lovely storklets, how they were brought up and finally how they managed to fly!

I had great pleasure and enjoyed this period very much!
And I have also enjoyed very much the nice, small community of forum members. I hope we will meet us again at another place!

I wish our storklets a good journey to the south.
I hope, they will have always enough wind under their wings,
will be able to avoid any danger and will come back healthy next springtime!
