It seems to me, that Yolanda began her first migration today morning. I hope, that all goes good! I will soon miss they all!

19:14 Thor leaves with his fish. His behaviour is differently.
Tomorrow we will know whether he flew off or not. I hope yes, it is the time and as Yolanda already left, it is Thor's turn. Niina will come after ...

As the cam is off and they may migrate any time now, I can't help posting a comment under this message in documentation thread
- two silent and very patient youngsters waiting for flying fish to land with their daddy on the nest. :rotf:

Niina quacked frustrated and left the nest at 11:03

Probably we have her somewhere on one of the videos, but I made an additional clip of yesterdays delivery, where the fish went overboard and Niina Duck was alone on the nest and quacking in frustration

I ask me, will we see our darlings tomorrow?
I think many of them start migration before noon - so I hope, too, that we can witness them on the nest also tomorrow forenoon - if not even later ... :2thumbsup: I will remember one year when some ospreys stayed to 15th September ...

I am no specialist, but I will remember to have read that all the birds go for the weather. Warm enough daytime from north to south and cooler night time over for example the Sahara desert - if they take that direction. And ospreys fly several hundreds of kilometers per day when necessary.

On the Birdmap you can study this and previous years routes of different migrant species: http://birdmap.5dvision.ee/index.php?lang=en - the records come from individuals with satellite transmitters on their back. One of the satellite ospreys this year is the male Kalle, an Estonian Osprey bred with his spouse Tiiu, near by the nest of Mai and Mikk -Tiiu was even observed in the cam at Mai's and Mikk's nest this season. Tiiu was tracked last autumn to Ivory Coast in Africa. Her transmitter went off there and she was removed of it this summer.

There is a mistake in the story: Ilmar is no more taking care of chicks ... it is Joosep

Yes, Thor came and started calling while I was leaving, so I came back to report it and Joosep came with fish right after that! You've seen it too! Now we can leave!

The stories of the Estonian osprey nests:
http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/23220
(J3 = Joosep appeared to the nest 2015 - not 2014 as mentioned in the story)

Ilmar is still haunting in this story ... instead of our mighty Joosep:
