Vote for ospret names ~ 2015

Post by Bea »

Vote for Ospret names

Our camera osprets on Irma & Joosep´s nest need names :D

They got their rings on July, 20, - NN, NT, and NY

Joosep, who ringed them, supposes that NN is female (because of her measurements), but is not sure about NT and NY.

We have a "pool" of names with suggestions from forum members (e.g. relating to the ring letters) and Estonian Nameday Calender (referring to egg-laying- and hatching-dates)

Please write for which ospret you want which name

Nameday Calendar some names were taken out, as already other camera birds have these names

- Endel, Endo (3. May, egg #1 laid)
- Aasa, Aase, Asse (6. May, egg #2 laid)
- Timmo, Timo (8. May, egg #3 laid)
- Haljand, Hallar, Helar, Helari, Hellar (9. June, egg #1 hatched)
- Amalie, Maali, Maila, Maile, Maili, Mailis (10. June, egg #2 hatched)
- Eskel, Esko (12. June, egg #3 hatched)

---

Joosma, Irmep and Jaari viewtopic.php?p=407619#p407619

---

Referring to their rings, female name - male name viewtopic.php?p=410820#p410820

NY - Yolanda or Yan
NT - Thamara or Thor
NN - Nina or Nigul

---

Also referring to their ring-letters viewtopic.php?p=410689#p410689

NN - Nairobi
NT - Tartu
NY - New York

---

Happy voting!

I think #3 is NT, so Timmo or Tartu would be nice. Nina for possible female NN and Yolanda or Yan for NY.

Though I constantly read NewYork, when I see this Ring NY, I think these following better.

NY - Yolanda or Yan
NT - Thamara or Thor
NN - Nina or Nigul

But whenever somebody talks of New York I will recognize one of Irmas chicks in 2015

There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before.

I vote for NY - New York to honour Josep, because it was his idea.
NN - of course Niina (instead of Nina  ).
And NT- maybe one of the Estonian rivers: Nuutri, which reminds me of "Nutria", a sweet sort of beaver.

Yolanda
Thor
Niina

I would not suggest New York. It´s great town, but not sure if suitable for osprey? I think Joosep said it for spelling not for name.
