for all without FB:
INFO by SWFL:
Harriet has not been seen on camera since Thursday afternoon. When she left the camera view (heading ENE) she had been vocalizing at intruders in the area.
Both the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) and FWC are aware of the situation. All decisions concerning Bald Eagles are made by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), not by us, the camera owners. Viewers are reminded that we are merely observers and not all nesting seasons result in a positive outcome.
Not only are SWFEC followers keeping an eye out for Harriet; local news media picked up the story. It is hoped many in the SWFL area are keeping an eye out for Harriet. If you see or find any injured wildlife, please contact CROW immediately.
Any information as to the welfare of wildlife should come from the proper authorities.
PLEASE DO NOT INCITE ILLEGAL ACTIONS. Baiting or artificial feeding encourages bold behavior. By presenting food near the nest/road it encourages more wildlife to the area (not only birds, but small mammals). This is a recipe for disaster - especially in SWFEC's location. Not only does it bring more predators, but there is the risk of accidents involving motor vehicles and power lines.
M15 has been protecting his young and has even managed to bring food to the nest. He isn't used to not having a mate to care for the young. He is used to having his own time away from the nest - and it is amazing how he has quickly changed that behavior.
At this age, it is very difficult for one eagle to raise the young alone. It is not impossible and we have seen success stories in the past…. Unfortunately, these are not that common, but in nature you can never say never. M is doing his very best to give both Eaglets enough food during the day. As seen this evening, both E's have full crops!
Emotions are high and the outcome of our beloved Eagle family is uncertain. Please be assured we all want the best for this eagle family; but we need to remember the final outcome as to what will be done rests with the proper authorities.

Е22 has fewer black feathers than E21, but he is already teaching to eat himself.

It's not nice to read.
After Samson's disappearance (.... before that the events surrounding his parents) another severe blow to a sovereign couple.
Well, nothing is embellished. These animals live with danger every day.

I hope for their descendants...

Thanks for your documentation!

Hello to Everybody

It is so great that M15, E21 and E22 are now doing pretty well there :D . E22 is stronger and stronger every day. Today E22 has been able to eat well too. They both already can stand. Let's now hope that precious M15 is able to do the job.

It could be, that in this season Hurrican Ian is a big problem for all wild animals around there.
So many tree were brooked and failed. Much of birds lost their nests (include H+M15), they losts territories or habitats.
So they must go for searching a new one. At the NEFL- Cam were so much intruders, I guess around 14!
Never see that before.
Meanwhile V3 btw. Veagle stays with Gabby since christmas days. He has had hard to fight, many wounds were on his talons.
Samson is missed since November.
I really cross my fingers for Harriet, she is amazing, but I know for sure she would never leave her family alone.
I have not a good feeling, sorry.

It is confirmed that Harriet was over 30 years old. There could also be a natural cause for her absence?

Yesterday in the morning hours there was another intruder at the nest. M15 chased him away. In that time he delivered 3 fish and a whole rabbit!
E21 and E22 are doing very well. You are well taken care of every day. Just after Harriet's disappearance, there was a bottleneck. M15 first had to realize that he was alone now.

Since then he's been acting amazing! I admire him deeply! He will raise these two until they fledge and beyond.

BTW: someone writes to me that while he's fishing in the area he occasionally lose fish. They fall out of his bucket :rotf:

M15 returned at 00:18:57!
Cindy Roberts FB:
I watched that guy walking back and forth. Saw something that looked like drone lights hovering as well. I’m two hours earlier here in Utah. My blood is boiling over that guy. Unbelievable. Glad the police finally came. That guy was there for a long time. Poor M. M wasn’t far, he finally returned.

Where is Harriet? by Christian Sasse
From the SWFL Eagle Nest: Harriet goes missing: - last seen on February 2nd at 5:36 p.m., flying off the attic, and she did not return. We will be talking to SWFL photographer Desiree Deliz (image credit) and possibly others, looking at her images, and also at Lady Hawk's footage

This information is not confirmed, there is no evidence that Harriet has been nesting in the nest mentioned on the list. The only data confirmed is that Harriet and Ozzie nested on the Pritchett's pasture from 2006. For sure counting from that data Harriet is 22 years old, but more is just speculation. This according to Tracey Reynolds Pinette, who lives in the area Fort Myers, administrates the FB-site Harriet & M15 Lover's Group and keeps contact with the administrators of Southwest Florida Eagle Cam.

15.45 Is it an intruder??

One adult eagle is sitting on the branch and calling and the second one is covering both eaglets in the nest. It is very windy.
16.02 The second eagle is feeding E21 with fish, E22 is waiting. The eagle on the branch is still sitting and calling.
16.34 The eagle from the branch flew in the nest and was chased away and returned on the branch.

Around 16.30 nest time the intruder came into the nest when M was feeding E's ! At first M only looked at it, but then it began to take their food and then M went to send it away. And that looked dangerous, it was a real fight! Now I am worried about M because he has to fight too. I'm afraid that more hard times and more work for Dad M15 because of this intruder now.

At least the eaglets soon will be able to eat themselves and so it will be a bit easier for M15 to take care of them. E22 tried it earlier than the sibling.

Sylvika , that was a female. This is a bit of a problem because males don't fight females. Unfortunately, they tend to be very stubborn. Could be she needs nest and a male

SWFL Eagles ~ INTRUDER FOLLOWS M15 To Nest! M15 DEFENDS HIS E's & PUSHES INTRUDER OFF! 2.11.23

video description by Lady Hawk:
M15 is seen flying in with a fish in his talons and is being followed by an intruder. M15 lands on the nest & immediately mantles to protect his E's as the intruder lands on the attic, M15 continues with warning vocals but the intruder continues to stay on the attic. The intruder does bow its head in a submissive fashion after landing.

M15 waits about 17 minutes and does not think the intruder is a threat so he begins to feed E21. He feeds E21 for over twenty minutes and finally E22 makes it way over to get some fish. Then the intruder drops down to the nest with talons out and it appears to try and grab E22 but was unsuccessful. E22 loses it balance and goes submissive. I put this in slomo so you can see what happened better. I can't read what was in the intruder's mind to know if it actually intended to grab E22 or if it just bumped into E22 when it dropped to the nest. Watching the behavior before and after dropping to the nest seems the intruder might not have been a threat to the E's. However, intruders have grabbed and killed other eagles chicks so the risk should never be taken lightly. The intruder then goes to the rails and back to the nest where it started to eat some leftover food when our fierce M15 immediately lunges at it and pushes it off the nest!! Cam 1 and cam 3 footage is included.

The intruder flies off and circles the nest landing on the u branch. M15 then flies to the attic and then flies close to warn it and immediately comes back to the attic. This bold intruder stayed on the u branch for about 14 minutes before flying off south across the street. M15 has been such an amazing defender of his nest and E's - Harriet would be so proud of him today!! E22 is fine and unharmed. M15 was able to feed E22 about an hour later! What a great Dad! Thank you for watching!
