Bon voyage Mrs G.
We last saw Mrs G as darkness fell on Sunday night. If she has started her journey south we wish her safe travels and we hope to see her safely return to us next March.

We were almost convinced that Aran had left us, having not seen him since Wednesday, but he is still with us! He landed on one of his favourite perching places earlier this afternoon. The earliest date he has left the valley is September 12th. Will tomorrow be the day he begins his journey south?

We have had no further sightings of Aran since early Tuesday morning the 14th. It is looking likely that both he and Mrs G are now on their way south. Safe journey both, we hope to see you next year.

We have received some very exciting news from a group of British Osprey volunteers currently birdwatching in Senegal. Today they spotted a female Osprey who was none other than Blue KC4, the youngest of the 2020 Glaslyn chicks, at Kallisaye Reserve in Senegal. Thank you Joanna, Pip and Vic for sharing the news with us, we are all thrilled.
By coincidence, on a previous trip to Senegal in 2019 they also spotted another of the Glaslyn Ospreys, Blue 8C (2014), who we had news of recently when she stopped off at Poole Harbour on her autumn migration.
Fingers crossed we get to see KC4 back in Wales in 2022.

Vic Paine has now downloaded the images he took of KC4 and kindly sent a higher quality image through to us. It is fabulous to be able to see her once again, after last seeing her on the Glaslyn nest on 9th September 2020. Thank you so much Vic, Pip and Joanna for sharing the news and photos.

Our friends Joanna Dailey and Chris Wood are currently in West Africa looking for wintering ospreys. Today (1st February) they visited the Casamance area of Senegal and photographed our own KC4, the youngest of the 2020 Glaslyn brood. It was close to the area that Joanna had previously seen KC4 last November.
Huge thanks to Joanna for reporting the news and sending us the fantastic images of KC4 so promptly.

Mrs G landed on the Glaslyn nest on Saturday 26th March to begin her 19th breeding season.
Volunteers had spotted an osprey flying over Pont Croesor being mobbed by a crow at 12.32 and we watched as it headed towards the Glaslyn nest area. Everyone commented that it was probably a female, as it was a large dark bird. We waited in eager anticipation for it to land on the Glaslyn nest. At 12.38 we heard chipping as the Queen of the Glaslyn valley landed on her nest, still being mobbed by crows.
Welcome home Mrs G, we look forward to a successful season.
welcome home Mrs. G !!

The matriarch from Glaslyn is back, she has made it again...
She is very hungry, is eating her fish so fast. Crows are bothering her.

We have some very good news for followers of the Glaslyn nest. During the winter, a small group of volunteers have been busily putting together a Family Tree of the Glaslyn Ospreys dynasty to date.
It will be on permanent display at the Visitor Centre and in the new Hide at Pont Croesor. Additionally, for those of you who are unable to visit us in person, it will be on view on our website.

Mrs G is currently on the Pont Croesor nest with Z2/Aeron and he has shared his fish catches with her. It is not unusual to see this courtship behaviour in areas where ospreys breed close to one another, while they are waiting for their own partners to arrive. Once their own mates arrive back Mrs G should return to her own nest.
