Good evening all,
yes, all the signs are there, that tonight it is the last visit of a parent. It's a bit a sentimental evening.
I'm a bit astonished that Kaupo stayed so long at nest and seemed to spend the night there. As long as one could see and hear something in the dark he was at nest (til about 22:30 I've watched and heard the sounds he made).

Thank you very much, Sue, for all your words. I undersign all of them. Especially: It is sad but only little because all is going in the way as it should be. That's so true. We have seen a wonderful season, all was nearly perfect, especially that there wasn't a parental infanticide (where I was very afraid for). No accidents, all storklets are grown up very well. What more do we want? The only one I want more, is, that Kaupo and Gaja and their four storklets reach Africa safe and sound. That the babies survive their first migration. That's my earnest wish.

Some pictures from the evening, from Kaupos most probably last visit in this year.

21:00 Kaupo is dozing a bit. He has honestly deserved a looooong rest. :D

21:53 Kaupo is still at nest.

With the scrolled back stream I'm now at 22:40, and Kaupo is good to hear. I don't know what he is doing, maybe still preening, but I can clearly hear him. :D

Thank you very much, Liz, for all the interesting reports of the day. Maybe we are lucky and see tomorrow one or two of our beloved storklets once more.

Good night all!

Thanks to all for reporting, pictures and very interesting comments. It was great, as always. :2thumbsup:
I'm a little sad at the moment. But at the same time very happy, that I was allowed to watch this nest. This was first nest I watched, with four chicks , which were successfully raised.
Thanks to LDF, Maris S. and all those who made it possible to observe the events at the nest. :loveshower:
Thanks also to Looduskalender, for providing the thread  :2thumbsup:

See you all at the next season :loveshower:

16:55 is scratching his head. If he does not take care of the nest and does not poop into the nest, then it is rather a migrant.
16:57 He went back into the nest
16:59 starts preening himself

Michi

Gaja has a black feather at her right side.

Feja from the DD Forum has another distinguishing feature. She is not here yet. So I wait until she can confirm.
But Vērotaja has also recognized, that it is a strange stork.

Thanks a lot, Liz, for Kaupos Good-bye-video! :2thumbsup:
I'm also a bit sad, that all our storks are gone now, but it's the way it should be.

I wish our dearly beloved Black Stork family a safe journey to Africa.
Have always wind under your wings, young ones! Take care of you and come back safe and sound! Good bye!

Thank you very much, Liz, Solo and all who have taken part at the forum for the detailed documentation, wonderful pictures, interesting videos and comments. :2thumbsup: I think, it was a wonderful season we could experience.
See you all again next spring!

Thanks for your answer, Liz. I had a look to the posted link, - a special place for the black feather. It's under the petticoat! Have you had a look there at our visitor?

He has rested most of the time.
I can not say if it's a migration stork or the owner of the nest from last year. At the end he marked the nest.
