Re: Following Karls' Families
On birdmap there are no data other than 28.10.2021 for Udu.
How come that you say he is in Chad now?
Are your data reliable? Is birdmap not being updated any longer? Some bird do have recent updates.
Have not looked into most LK forum threads for some time, maybe I missed something.

Hello Rita!
Our data is reliable, straight from a transmitter.
The migration map is not updated because Urmas probably had not have time.

Pikne and Karl II transmitters have not sent data.
Waiting for Udu, but it doesn´t look promising.
Edit. No, we don´t have data for Udu today

Thankyou Juta, for continued reports, even though there is nothing to report.
There seems to be little reason for us to keep on posting "No new data" each day.
It could happen that there will be some unexpected news, in which case it will be posted here.
We must check in from time to time, if only to say Hello - we are still looking at Ornitel.

Sleep well, Bigfan.
We will wake you up as soon as there is something new to report.
Thanks, everyone, for dropping by every now and then.
As Jo said, we keep an eye on OrniTrack.

I did some manual work for to add SMS data for Udus track. Last known SMS location is from 11 Nov, but promsining as there is not desert anymore. Can't say if everything is fine with Udu, but spring is not that far anymore... So positive information can be after couple of months, negative most probably will be not known for us. Udu passed so many dangerous places during first migration, but accidents can happen even with experienced birds.

Thank you, Urmas.
Udu might be in Chad or South Sudan now. Or possibly in the Central African Republic, like his/her father.
Let's hope Udu will appear 'on the radar' again in (late) spring or (early) summer. I so desperately hope that he/she is a survivor. And Pikne too.
UDU birdmap update
• Previous data: 28.10.2021, distance 6080 km, + 87 km in 1 day, stopover. Udu sent data from the Farafra Oasis in Egypt.
• "New" data: 11.11.2021, distance 7926 km, + 1846 km in 14 days. Udu sent data from the southwest of Sudan near the little village Mana, not very far from the border with Chad.
See the post (update from data sent by SMS) on 11.11.2021:
https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 32#p834032
and the tracker map:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing
Udu's entire flown route until 11.11.2021
Udu's crossing of the Mediterranean Sea on 25.10.2021, and the first flights over the Sahara until 27.10.2021 towards the Farafra Oasis
See Juta's tracker map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... sp=sharing
And a few maps: https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 76#p833376
Little Udu flew an additional 1846 km over the desert, from the Farafra Oasis in Egypt to his/her last known location in Sudan

Hello everyone with hope if UDU managed the route I would like to know if the stork is able to better calibrate his route during the next migration, or it will be fixed on his first one most difficult again

Asteria and everyone, so we wouldn't have to lose hope if they didn't send the data this year

Hello friends
Our Karl II is on his way home!
We received (still) very incomplete data, but his last known location is dated yesterday 02.03, near El Fula in Sudan!
I’m so glad that he’s on the radar again.
Pics and tracker maps soon!
Here you are:
