Abigyl wrote: May 17th, 2022, 7:30 pm Liz, now Teo is gone since weekend.

Our BS found a wife
Abigyl, another sad year at the Latvian Nests.

Female BS came much too late. this nest has been without luck since Kaupo and Gaja. I'm afraid next year will be even worse. The forest is drying up.
Even if Teo had found a female. There is no longer enough food for all wild birds. This is the reason why the hawk is now emptying the nests. for the wild animals the things are better in the cities than in their usual places. there they can survive. Forest and meadows are slowly dead areas.

:hi:
After all these events during the last seasons the story from handsome Teo is really sad and heartbreaking. I feel so sorry for him.
His female Vita isn't come back...she was still so young.
Maybe Teo abandoned that nest and can find another one somewhere with a lovely female.

The young Latvian girl still is Teo's current mate:

She is calling - and waiting for fish is rewarded by Teo, of course:

And here's Teo, later, his girl had finished her fish, and he has done some nest work - rearranging branches, etc.

June 21st

Vērotăja shared a wonderful video. :loveshower:
Check it out...even if the main character isn't an Osprey. A few days ago I also googled cuckoo...they are very present this year. I was surprised how similar it is to a sparrowhawk in size. The banded chest... I had a completely different idea of a cuckoo. Although I knew beforehand how his breeding business was going...

Thanks to Vērotăja! :2thumbsup:

Teo and the new female are still together... :innocent:

good afternoon!
MĀRIS has given information about the Latvian nest cameras.
https://forums.dabasdati.lv/viewtopic.p ... af#p358191
GT'ed:
* Yesterday /7.01./ with Jānis Ķuze and four other participants we went to survey the surroundings of this nest with the hope of finding the new nest where Silva and Slīter could have nested. Unlucky... If we were lucky, this live broadcast would be moved to the found nest, but now it is clear that she will be dismantled and moved to Ķemeri, where Jānis has one nest in mind.

* The live black stork has already been dismantled and moved to another location, so it will be a new nest.

* A live maintenance visit to the Durbe nest is planned sometime soon - the front protective glass of the lens will be replaced. When this event comes closer, I will inform you.

* Will still be looking for black kites' new nest to re-live if successful.

* The live broadcast of Theo's Nest is still undecided.
thank you MĀRIS!

yesterday I was still thinking about Teo... crazy.

I wish Teo a safe place with a partner. Unfortunately, Vita seems to have died.?
He is such a beautiful and special male but this hatchery is not cheap.
The environment there is so incredibly diverse. From cranes to owls...buzzards etc...but no room for osprey. That's the way it should be.
Maybe the population of Goshawk and WTE will change...who knows?
Marko & Miina also had success last season...finally, after a lot of robbing of their chicks.

But Teo is heavy on my heart....

We look!

Thank you @ame!
