Just saw a feeding before, "Pecky" got all, the other chick nothing. The second chick is often defensive during feedings. It have patiently to wait for his share. Sometimes not so nice to observe. Meanwhile the chicks are often alone in the nest. For my knowledge a bit too long for this stage.

Finally Mom is back, the second chick got a bite, immediately he/she got a bonk from Pecky. Now Pecky can eat again... I really hope it develops soon a strategy.


Edit: Around 4pm there was a good feeding for the second chick, it went close to Mom , the other was still in food coma and came too later.

18.February

Both are grown nicely. I guess, NE26 is a female and NE27 a male.


The feedings are still not nice to watch. NE26 is always very dominant and aggressive against her/his sibling.
I observed a feeding around 12:00 noon. NE27 got nothing, Samson only fed NE26. As NE27 was "free" to eat something Samson left and flew to a branch. NE27 tried to feed him/herself, begging all time. He/she is my favourite, a little fighter.

NEFL - HAMLET WEATHER UPDATE: As expected rain and powerful winds have reached the Hamlet and will likely prevail thru the day and possibly into tomorrow. Ian has been reduced to a Tropical Storm. Samson and Gabby were last seen at the nest Tuesday night. They are intuitive, mighty eagles and instinctively seek shelter during storms. Prayers for their safety along with their nest, nest tree and that the cam equipment isn't affected. Power is out in the nest area, so cams went down around 4:15am. We will report when it's safe to check the nest area, but that won't likely be until tomorrow (Friday). All the AEF cam volunteers that reside in Florida are fine. Be safe everyone!

Just learned that Samson has not been seen since Friday (25th Nov) and another male has been seen hanging around the nest. People are searching Samson.

Sad news, I hope Samson is fine and can come back soon.

A new male, V2, appeared in the nest with Gabby.

It's a pity that Samson is not tagged, then it would be clear whether he had to move away or something happened to him.

There is an Visitor since few days. He is named V2. Samson is still missing.
