Mayfly.
"As their English name may-fly suggests the mayfly adults (imagos) emerge in May. I too found a mayfly at the front door of my home on Tuesday night. Examining it closer I saw that it was in the subimago stage. The wings were hairy and cloudy, not transparent. Such a winged stage metamorphosis is specific only for the mayflies. On Wednesday night it was still at the door and had not shed its skin. Only on Thursday morning I found the empty skin that the mayfly imago had left me as a memory. This mayfly had a quite long subimago period.“
Skin left as memory.
