Vernal snow springtail, Isotoma genus
The variety of springtail species busy on the snow has changed to a springtime composition. With a naked eye much difference cannot be seen, but in the photos the differences are visible.
In winter the most typical springtails are from the genus Desoria. They have a uniformly violet body. Now the most common springtails on the snow are from the genus Isotoma. Their body is dark brown with small paler patches. In places there may be tens of them jumping on the snow.
The longest side of each photo is 7,2 mm.
