Fox cub

Fox; red fox   Rebane or punarebane    Vulpes vulpes

At the end of April some foxes already had cubs in the den. Here the litters usually have three to six cubs. The female (vixen) spent the first two weeks together with the helpless and blind cubs in the den, wholly at the mercy of the hunting luck of the male.

The weight at birth of fox cubs is about a hundred grams and the vixen suckles them for a month and a half. Gradually the fox cubs begin to discover the world and to go outside the den. The adults already feed them little titbits of proper food, and soon prey animals will be brought to the den to teach the young foxes life’s.

Now is the time when photographers can make delightful photos or videos of the doings of fox families.
