Wild basil
Wild basil is a perennial herb, sparsely distributed in Estonia. It grows and flowers during a long period, until the end of September. We find it in wooded meadows, mixed forests and clear-cut areas.

Flowers purple-red, in in a dense round inflorescence that consists of one to three individual whorls. The leaves of wild basil are softly hairy, up to a few centimetres wide, with sparsely toothed margin and egg-shaped (ovate). The plant has an erect stem, height around half a metre.
