Lady’s slippers peeking up, photographed on May 16th in Hanila parish, Lääne County

 

 

Only a few more days and the very first lady’s slippers will be flowering! It is possible only in Lääne County and the islands, where low-growing, very early lady’s slippers occur on the alvars and in juniper stands. Generally the shoots are only 5-15 cm long now and it is still quite a bit to go to flower buds.
