The great tit has been studied for a long time

On Monday December 4th, Osoon had a long feature on great tits and investigations of them.
The bird of the year in 2016 is the great tit; it is probably the most studied bird species around the world. In Estonia the behaviour, breeding and nutrition of great tits is investigated; this has been done for nearly fifty years.
Marko Mägi, Deputy Head of the Field lab of Avian Ecology at University of Tartu, says in the programme: ”The great tit is an excellent investigation object for reserachers because they are many and they breed in nestboxes where it is easy to observe them“.
