During the weekend, one could see many common cranes in fields in Pärnumaa, walking around in pairs and searching for food – mainly for straws and seeds, since there are no animals around yet that they can eat. These beautiful birds can be seen during early spring, because many thousands of common cranes are flying back from their „winter holiday“.  Only a small partion of them stay here and later they are hard to spot. The pairs that do stay in Estonia fly to remote swamps and fens.
