Chironomid on marsh fern.
Among the two-winged insects (Diptera) bloodsucking species are actually few compared to those who feed on nectar, so a preparative conciliatory cure might be recommended against the pre-Midsummer Eve mosquito dislike. Maybe this photo can help where the soft, feathery antennae of the chironomid might soften the antipathy ... and so might the melodic song of the swarms at a pond in a quiet evening. There are more than 400 species of chironomids (Chironomidae) in Estonia and they don’t suck blood.
