Blackbird | Musträstas | Turdus merula |
The blackbird is one of the first birds to get busy in early morning. In the eagle camera it is there in the early hours – its day begins already in the dusk before sunrise. The blackbird isn’t pushy: when the bigger birds arrive it disappears from camera view.
On the whole it is a bird of forests and wooded meadows, with a rather secretive life. Lately it has also settled near built-up areas and in parks.
Most of the blackbirds nesting in Estonia leave for the south in November, the late ones in December, some stay to winter here.
