The hot May weather entices many plants into flower. Only recently we were in the realm of the blues and the whites, then the meadows and hayfields turned into yellow expanses of dandelions. This morning the tinge of violet in the abandoned military lands at Pääsküla was an even more delightful sight. The season of the orchids is here. As one of the first of them the early purple orchid, "God’s paw" (Jumalakäpp) in Estonian, announced its stately presence.
