A scene like this isn’t unusual in parks and wooded areas in our cities, where squirrels with daytime activity habits breed. These squirrels have probably been born in early spring and now they have grown into independent young but still a little careless animals whom their parents no longer keep an eye on, with good reason. The gestation period of the female squirrels is up to forty days, and in July generally a second litter will be born: the adults mated in May. The young discover the world and amuse themselves in gangs, as always.
