The habitat of the May lily in shadowy forests and on their verges is revealed by the little red berries. Its leaves are heart-shaped even when they are withering.
People call it the “wine berry“, the berries make birds and animals that eat them a little drunk; for people they are poisonous. The berry contains one seed, and it has a sweet taste.
For children, eating 3-4 grams of the berries becomes dangerous. But let us make an estimate: the weight of one berry with its seed is around 0,06 grams and there are never many of them in one place; it is just a tiny delight to look at in autumn. So cases of May lily poisoning are not common.
