The buzzard webcam was installed for the first time in 2015, the year of the buzzard. This year we can watch the same nest for the third year in a row.

The breeding results will be known in mid-June at the latest. Will the same Mari and Mihkel come to breed? We are no longer able to watch the second buzzard nest from 2015 (Katrin and Kalju) since there is a felling area now...

The buzzard camera was installed by the Estonian Ornithological Society in mid-March. At the buzzard nest we have an AXIS F41 camera module with a separate wide angle lens and sensor. A specially built microphone that is suitable for the AXIS camera has been added. The Akupluss battery centre takes care of battery power to the camera.

Transmission from the nest is by way of a WiFi link; the arrangements come from our long-term partner in the camera projects, Kernel AS. For data communication we use the Kernel net by which the image from the camera arrives to the EENet server. In the EENet server the video stream is synchronously split and distributed to thousands of users. Recording of the material is also carried out in the server.

For more information about what is happening see the Looduskalender news and forum where watchers from all over the world post their observations.
