A reminder from the deer camera grounds.

The loss of the last antler amazes the deer: he must take a look, cross-eyed, to see if it is really true that the last familiar sex sign has finally gone.

For the owners of larger antlers the antlers started to disappear at the end of February. The young males could move around for a longer time with antlers on.

The day grows longer and the red deer move around in dusk as well as in the night hours. The day is spent hidden; in thickets it is convenient to hide, likewise in reeds.

Red deer are resilient runners, obstacles are crossed by jumping and as good swimmers they enter waters confidently. When blood-sucking insects appear towards summer the deer take ”mud baths” which keep the nuisances at bay for some time.

The sexes move in different herds in summer too. Only old adult males go singly or in pairs
