Winter bird feeder webcam transmission ends

Bullfinches visited the birdfeeder until the end of the season.

This winter turned out as it did but our feathered friends got different bird foods by  BALSNACK. Arne Ader cared nicely for the birds outside the window of the Loodusemees home office and ends the feeding only when the capricious spring weather is over.

The image from the camera was quite decent, there was no shortage of bird species – we can see that from the LK forum entries: thank you to the devoted watchers in the forum: LINK

Picture story: Grain ball vandals

Great spotted woodpecker male

That smaller passerines like the grain balls viewers of the bird feeder camera have surely noticed, but bigger ones are also busy at them for getting food to store.

Pildil olev isaslind lõhub võrgu täies teadmises, et suuremaid suutäisi saada ning tüütu nokitsemine lõpetada…

The male in the image tears up the net quite deliberately in order to get larger bites and avoid the boring pecking…

The crow family birds are smart and the magpie in the image takes at least three grain balls at a time to his hiding place.

The 2016 Bird of the Year of the Estonian Ornithological Society is the great tit. The doings of one of our best known and widest spread bird can be observed the year round. The web page of the Great Tit Year is at www.eoy.ee/rasvatihane/. The Estonian Environmental Investments Centre, Keskkonnainvesteeringute Keskus (KIK), supports the Bird of the Year activities. It seems that colder winter weather has finally reached us too, and it is the last moment to set up a feeder for your feathered friends .
