Grey seal        Hallhüljes        Halichoerus grypus

Yesterday (Sunday 26th) the placenta was left behind after the female seal had given birth (see Saturday's video story ). It was left on the beach rocks about ten minutes after the pupping.

Hungry birds were there at once. Whom do we see: of course hooded crows, gulls (great black-backed gulls, herring gulls, mew gulls). The  seal stops the landing of an adult white-tailed eagle (its white tail feathers indicate a mature bird).

In the foreground we see the seal mother with her seal pup, a quarter of an hour old.
