The egg and both storks…

Black stork          Must-toonekurg       Ciconia nigra

The night was of course cold, in the nest forest there may have been at least a couple of degrees of frost but in the morning dusk the egg was really there.

The black stork nest camera works, the birds are in place and viewers are plentiful.

LK forum is where you can get an overview of what has happened in the nest this year as well as in previous years. Different observers have described their observations, and added pictures and videos there.

The heron camera starts its third season. We follow the activities in Estonia’s largest heron colony in Lääne County where last season nearly 490 pairs of grey herons and 250 pairs of great egrets were nesting. Only grey herons were nesting in the colony from the start in the 1990’ies; the great egrets did not move in until 2015.

We installed a fish camera in the waters on the northern shore of lake Võrtsjärv, hoping to see the activities of pikes during their spawning period. The camera is located on the bank area that is flooded by high water at a depth of about 40 cm between sedge tufts and last year’s grass where the conditions are perfect for the spawning of the pikes
